HYDERABAD: The AIMIM has called for caution regarding the proposed Young India Skill University (YISU) in Gachibowli, urging that it should not replicate the Indian School of Business (ISB) model, which operates on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis.
Nampally MLA Mohammed Majid Hussain expressed concerns, stating, “The fee structure should not become a burden for students. ISB, which was set up under the PPP model, quickly became one of the leading business schools in the country, but its high fees were beyond the reach of the economically weaker sections.”
Hussain proposed that the contribution from private entities be increased to 100% to ensure that the university remains affordable for students.
AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi emphasized the importance of course recognition at YISU. He suggested that the Society for Employment Promotion & Training in Twin Cities (SETWIN) should have its courses affiliated with the new skill university to ensure that certificates issued by SETWIN and ITI are recognized. Owaisi questioned the future of existing skills development centers and whether SETWIN would be closed or merged with YISU.
In response, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy clarified that the outdated syllabus of ITI necessitated the establishment of YISU. He assured that no existing institution would be closed and that YISU would be an advanced technology institution offering degree certificates.
