HYDERABAD: AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday drew a controversial comparison between the directive issued by the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government regarding eateries on the Kanwar Yatra route and the policies of German dictator Adolf Hitler. Speaking at a gathering in the Kodangal Assembly constituency, represented by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Owaisi argued that the directive violates the Constitution.
“It is unconstitutional to discriminate based on religion. The Constitution guarantees equality for all. Article 19 ensures the right to seek employment opportunities. However, the BJP government has enacted a law reminiscent of Hitler’s Germany in the 1930s,” Owaisi said.
He further likened the situation to historical events, stating: “Hitler required Jews to wear cloths with the Star of David, and then he encouraged Germans to boycott Jewish businesses.”
Owaisi accused the BJP government of specifically targeting Muslims, noting that 14 to 15 Muslims have been lynched since the Lok Sabha election results were announced on June 4.
“Indian Muslims need to recognize that while the representation of backward and upper classes in Parliament is now equal, Muslim representation remains at only 4%, despite the community constituting 14% of the population. We aim to counter this communalism. Despite a decrease in BJP’s seat share in the recent Lok Sabha elections, Muslim representation remains stagnant at 4%,” Owaisi stated.
