AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi raised questions on Tuesday about whether the BRS would merge with or form an alliance with the BJP, referring to media reports.
Speaking to reporters in Hyderabad, Owaisi recalled AIMIM's past communication with then-President Pranab Mukherjee about injustice and underdevelopment in undivided Andhra Pradesh's Telangana region. He noted that Telangana was subsequently formed and has seen development, but raised concerns over the reported possibility of the BRS aligning with the BJP.
Owaisi cited statements attributed to BRS leader B Vinod Kumar in the media, where Kumar suggested that "anything can happen" in politics, in response to questions about a potential alliance or merger with the BJP.
AIMIM had supported BRS candidates in some segments during the 2023 Assembly elections and backed Congress in select constituencies during the recent Lok Sabha polls.
Owaisi also condemned the recent terror attack in the Doda region of Jammu and Kashmir, criticizing the BJP-led government's security measures and alleging a failure to address security challenges effectively. He expressed concerns over ongoing security issues and accused the government of avoiding addressing challenges posed by China.
Regarding the vandalism of a mosque near Vishalgad Fort in Maharashtra's Kolhapur and the subsequent assault on locals, Owaisi denounced the incident as a terrorist attack on the mosque. He criticized the BJP-led Maharashtra government for not curbing such incidents and accused it of encouraging miscreants targeting Muslims and their places of worship.
Overall, Owaisi's remarks touched on political alignments, security concerns, and communal tensions, reflecting his stance on current socio-political issues.
