Telangana Women Journalist Accuses Congress Workers of Assault

HYDERABAD: On Thursday, Congress workers allegedly attacked two women journalists, Avula Sarita and Vijaya Reddy, in Kondareddypalli, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's hometown in Vangoor mandal of Nagarkurnool district. The journalists were in the area to investigate the effectiveness of the crop loan waiver scheme.
Sarita claimed that Congress workers physically assaulted them while they were reporting on the waiver’s implementation. She reported that their camera was destroyed, their phones were seized, and they were pushed into the mud.
During their attempt to report the incident at the Veldanda police station, Sarita alleged that around a dozen vehicles followed their car and tried to assault them there as well.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao condemned the attack on the journalists via X (formerly Twitter), stating: “Strongly condemn the attack on the female journalists in CM’s native village Kondareddypalli by Congress goons. This is not only a serious blemish on our democratic system but also on the basic decency expected of any human being.”
The Vangoor police have filed cases against the alleged attackers under Sections 126(2), 352, 351(1), and 79 r/w 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
