SANGAREDDY: Discussions between district officials and farmers in Sangareddy over land acquisition for the Regional Ring Road (RRR) have failed to reach a resolution. Following recent meetings organized by the Revenue Divisional Officer, which included farmers from Girmapur in Kondapur mandal and Peddapur in Sadasivapet mandal, the issue remains unresolved. Collector Valluru Kranthi has instructed that further discussions be held with fair compensation offers as mandated by government orders.
The responsibility for negotiations has been handed over to the Project Director of National Highways and the District Additional Collector (Revenue), but their efforts have not yet yielded positive results.
In Sangareddy district, approximately 800 acres are being acquired for the RRR. Specifically, 102 acres in Girmapur and 91 acres in Peddapur are required for the Ring Road Junction, which will be constructed in a ‘figure of eight’ shape. The Southern Regional Ring Road will start at Choutuppal in the former Nalgonda District and end at Peddapur-Girmapur Junction, while the Northern Regional Ring Road will run from Peddapur Junction to Choutuppal. Given that the Hyderabad-Bombay National Highway also traverses these villages, a substantial amount of land is needed.
The Collector clarified that compensation for farmers will be based on the highest land rates from the past three years in Peddapur and Girmapur, increased threefold, in accordance with the Land Acquisition Act.
Addressing concerns about possible changes to the RRR alignment, the Collector assured that such suspicions are unfounded. She urged farmers to engage in constructive discussions with officials to resolve the issue.
