The decision came after the hotel failed to pay taxes for the last two years. It is reported that the main gate of the hotel has been locked. Despite multiple notices being issued to Taj Banjara in the past, the management did not respond, leading to this action. The hotel is located on Road No. 1 in Banjara Hills.

The GHMC authorities revealed that the hotel had an outstanding property tax of 1.43 crores. Despite several notices issued to the hotel management, they did not respond, and even after a final two-day deadline, the management showed negligence, leading to the seizure. The authorities also mentioned that the hotel management was given several chances to clear the dues. Recently, the GHMC has focused heavily on collecting taxes from commercial establishments across the city.

In response to the incident, the Taj Hotel management stated that they immediately reacted after the GHMC seized the hotel and issued a warrant due to pending taxes for two years. The management paid half of the 1.43 crore tax dues through RTGS. They agreed to clear the remaining balance within a week. However, it is not just Taj Banjara; the GHMC has sent notices to all defaulters as part of the property tax collection process. Warrants have been issued to those who haven't paid taxes for the past three years, and Taj Banjara was also included in this list. Upon receiving the red notice, the management of Taj Banjara paid half of the outstanding tax.
