Microsoft Unveils Significant Windows 11 Update Introducing Fresh Features

New Delhi, November 1: Microsoft has initiated the rollout of its latest significant update for the Windows 11 PC operating system, introducing several new features.

The primary alteration in this update, known as Windows 11, version 23H2, involves the renaming of Microsoft Teams to "Chat."

"Chat is now Microsoft Teams (free) and is pinned by default to the taskbar," stated John Cable, VP of program management for Windows servicing and delivery, in a blog post on Tuesday.

"When you click to launch Microsoft Teams, you will discover a compact communication platform that enables chatting, calling, meeting, and creating spaces for community groups to collaborate, organize, and share ideas with just a few clicks," he added.

The Windows 11 2023 update also encompasses enhancements to app management. System components in Windows 11 are now labeled as "system" and are organized into a new section within the settings.

Notably, the Microsoft Store, Game Bar, Phone Link, and Tips apps are all included, and it seems that Microsoft is gearing up to enable Windows 11 users to remove these system components at a future date.

"This update maintains the annual feature update schedule for Windows 11, with new feature updates being released in the second half of the calendar year. This new version resets the support period to 24 months for Home and Pro editions and 36 months for Enterprise and Education editions," as confirmed by Microsoft.

Furthermore, the technology giant pointed out that select features and enhancements initially shipped in a disabled state by default in version 22H2 will be enabled by default in version 23H2, including the integration of Copilot in Windows.
