IPL 2025: KKR to Face RCB in Tournament Opener at Eden Gardens on March 22
New Delhi, Feb 16: Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2025 opening match at their home ground Eden Gardens on March 22. The ten-team tournament will begin almost two weeks after the Champions Trophy ends on March 9.
The schedule was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) through broadcasters JioHotstar on Sunday, with 13 venues set to host 74 IPL 2025 matches over 65 days.
- KKR will host Qualifier 2 (on May 23) and the title clash on May 25.
- Hyderabad will host Qualifier 1 and Eliminator on May 20 and 21, respectively.
- IPL 2025 starts on March 22 at Eden Gardens and features 13 venues for 74 matches.
- CSK and MI will face each other in the first double-header on March 23.
- Delhi Capitals will begin their campaign on March 24, and Gujarat Titans will open against Punjab Kings on March 25.
- RCB have appointed Rajat Patidar as their new captain, while Shreyas Iyer (PBKS) and Rishabh Pant (LSG) are also the new captains for IPL 2025.
