Mountains in Jammu and Kashmir experienced fresh snowfall, while the plains were lashed by rain

Srinagar, November 10: Recent snowfall in the hills and rainfall in the plains of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday led to the closure of mountain passes and a decline in daytime temperatures.

The Zojila Pass witnessed snowfall, leading to the shutdown of the Srinagar-Leh highway, and other passes like the Mughal Road, Razdan Pass, Sinthan Top, among others, were also closed.

The ski resort of Gulmarg and the Sonamarg hill station experienced fresh snowfall on Friday.

Rainfall occurred in the Valley and most areas of the Jammu division.

The Meteorological (MeT) office predicts an improvement in weather conditions from late evening on Friday.

"Weather is expected to be generally dry from November 11 to 17," stated an official from the MeT department.

Daytime temperatures throughout Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a significant decline due to the snowfall in the mountains.
