Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister announces upcoming launch of free bus services for women

The APSRTC is studying the implementation of a similar facility in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, according to the Minister.
Transport, Youth, and Sports Minister Mandapilli Ramprasad Reddy announced that the free bus service pledged by NDA partners before the elections will be rolled out statewide within a few weeks. Currently, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) is studying the implementation of this service in states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, as stated by the Minister during a media briefing in Visakhapatnam on June 30th.
Mr. Ramprasad Reddy highlighted that certain logistical issues need careful consideration and resolution before launching free bus travel for women. He emphasized that additional buses would be necessary due to the anticipated increase in women passengers.
"The Transport department is in discussions with RTC officials in Karnataka and Telangana. A team will soon visit these states. Despite potential delays of a few weeks, the program will proceed,” the Minister assured.
He emphasized the State government's commitment to constructing new APSRTC depots, increasing bus fleet size and frequency to meet passenger demands. Additionally, Mr. Ramprasad Reddy pledged to promptly address issues and fulfill the demands of APSRTC employees.
