Telangana Minister Surekha Retracts Comments on Samantha-Chaitanya Divorce

HANAMKONDA: Telangana Minister Konda Surekha retracted her statements on Thursday, which suggested that BRS leader K T Rama Rao was responsible for the divorce of actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya. She also offered an apology to Samantha for her remarks.
Surekha clarified that her intent was to address the leader's dismissive attitude toward women rather than to harm the actress or her family. She praised Samantha for her journey of self-empowerment, calling it inspirational.
“If anyone feels hurt by my statements, I am unconditionally withdrawing my words,” she stated, expressing regret for any pain she may have caused. She posted on 'X' that no one should endure the distress her comments generated.
In her message, Surekha remarked, “Taking the name of a family was inadvertent. Last night, I posted a message unconditionally withdrawing my comments. My comments were meant to challenge a leader’s belittling of women, not to hurt your sentiments, @Samanthaprabhu2. Your growth through self-empowerment is something I admire greatly.”
While she retracted her comments regarding Samantha, Surekha affirmed that she would not retract her statements regarding the BRS party’s remarks about her on social media and demanded an apology from Rama Rao for those comments.
