HYDERABAD: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has highlighted differences between Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, suggesting that both leaders should meet and clarify their positions on Adani before issuing a joint statement. Rama Rao made these remarks during an informal chat with reporters on Thursday.
Commenting on the Chief Minister’s recent protest at the Enforcement Directorate office demanding a JPC probe into allegations against the Adani Group, Rama Rao noted that the BRS had already called for a Supreme Court judge to address the issue. He recalled that the BRS government had previously blocked Adani Group investments in the state, including coal production and agricultural meters. Despite this, Adani has expanded into Rajasthan under Congress rule and is now doing business in Telangana.
Rama Rao also criticized Revanth Reddy’s plan to install a Telangana Talli statue, comparing it to Nathuram Godse’s hypothetical installation of a Gandhi statue. He alleged that Revanth's actions were an attempt to curry favor with the Congress high command while undermining the sentiments of Telangana’s people.
Further, Rama Rao accused Revanth Reddy of achieving little over the past nine months except frequent trips to Delhi. He claimed that the Congress had betrayed the Madiga community by fielding Abhishek Singhvi from Telangana for the Rajya Sabha polls.
Rama Rao assured that the BRS would continue its campaign on crop loan waivers and would soon announce its strategy. He mentioned that the BRS plans to hold meetings and launch protests in response to Congress's promises and demands, including the implementation of six key guarantees.
In other news, former minister and MLA G. Jagadish Reddy was stopped by police in Suryapet while en route to meet party leaders in Thirumalagiri.
