TDP Leaders Advocate for Nara Lokesh’s Elevation as Deputy Chief Minister
Amaravati, Jan 18: Leaders within the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) are urging Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to promote his son, Nara Lokesh, to the position of Deputy Chief Minister in Andhra Pradesh. The demand reflects the party's succession planning as Chandrababu Naidu nears 75 and aims to position Lokesh as a future leader.
TDP Politburo member Srinivas Reddy recently voiced this appeal during a meeting held in Mydukur, YSR Kadapa district, on the death anniversary of TDP founder and former Chief Minister N. T. Rama Rao. Srinivas Reddy highlighted Lokesh's contributions in promoting youth engagement, Information Technology, and industrial development, emphasizing the importance of his elevation to instill confidence in the party’s future.
Key Points:
- TDP leaders push for Nara Lokesh’s promotion to secure party succession.
- Lokesh’s supporters view him as a versatile minister and a strong candidate for Deputy Chief Minister.
- Calls for Lokesh’s elevation arise amid coalition government dynamics.
Reddy stated, “Nara Lokesh has proven his capabilities by encouraging youth, promoting IT, and attracting industries to the state. His elevation will ensure a brighter future for the party.”
Earlier, another TDP leader, Mahasena Rajesh, also advocated for Lokesh’s promotion, describing him as a versatile and eligible minister for the role of Deputy Chief Minister. These demands have gained traction as some TDP members express concerns over the influence of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, the president of coalition partner Jana Sena.
Lokesh currently serves as the TDP’s national general secretary and the state’s Minister for Information Technology and Human Resources Development. His supporters believe that his leadership qualities and vision make him an ideal candidate to succeed Chandrababu Naidu.
As the TDP chief approaches his 75th birthday on April 20, the calls for Lokesh’s elevation are expected to intensify, positioning him as the next generation leader of the Telugu Desam Party.
