VIJAYAWADA: The Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) has approved a ₹11,000 crore loan for the Andhra Pradesh government to support development works in Amaravati, the state’s capital city.
The decision followed a meeting in New Delhi between Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Minister P. Narayana and HUDCO CMD Sanjay Kulshrestha. During the meeting, Narayana presented the state’s action plan for Amaravati’s development, which impressed the HUDCO CMD, leading to the loan approval.
The Minister detailed that the overall cost of constructing buildings, roads, drainage systems, and drinking water facilities in the capital city is estimated at ₹50,000 crore. Of this, ₹26,000 crore is required for phase one.
He further highlighted that the World Bank and Asian Development Bank (ADB) have committed ₹15,000 crore, with HUDCO providing the remaining amount.
Special Chief Secretary Anil Singhal, HUDCO Vijayawada Regional Chief BSN Murthy, and other officials were also present at the meeting.
