Fish Curry Politics: How Fish Curry is Spicing Up Telangana Politics – Not Just a Regular Dispute!
Fish curry, a popular dish among non-vegetarians, has now become a tool for political leaders in Telangana. Whether to target opponents or corner them, fish curry is being used strategically by political leaders. This is exactly what's happening in Telangana, where the political struggle has now shifted from a water dispute to a battle involving fish curry.
After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014 and the formation of Telangana, the issue of water distribution escalated. Telangana raised concerns about its share of water, which led to new guidelines being formed. According to the bifurcation act, water allocation for both states had to be decided, with both Chief Ministers and the Union Minister for Water Resources forming an apex committee. Despite these guidelines, verbal battles over water distribution have continued, with a significant rise in political tensions between CM Revanth Reddy and former Minister Harish Rao.
CM Revanth Reddy remarked that if the BRS government had properly managed Telangana for the past decade, these issues wouldn't have existed. Harish Rao responded by stating that the current drought isn't a result of time but is instead due to Congress’s actions.
The focus has also shifted to the past political games played by KCR and Jagan over the Pothireddypadu issue. CM Revanth Reddy took this opportunity to criticize KCR, mentioning how KCR once visited Roja’s house in the city and ate fish curry and ragi sankati, claiming that KCR promised to make Rayalaseema a land of treasures.
Harish Rao, following Revanth's lead, brought up the fish curry issue once again. He questioned if Revanth Reddy didn’t once ask CM Chandrababu to bow down and eat fish curry in the Assembly when Andhra Pradesh was taking water from the Krishna River. Harish Rao also reminded everyone that Minister Uttam and his family once visited Chandrababu’s house and ate fish curry.
This ongoing debate over fish curry continues to add spice to the political climate in Telangana. The real question now is, how far will this heated political battle go, and which political careers will it affect?
