Pakistan Train Hijack: 33 Militants Dead, Hostages Rescued in Army Operation

The Pakistani Army has successfully completed an operation to rescue hostages from a hijacked train, a case that had caused significant concern. A total of 33 militants from the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) were killed during the operation. Additionally, 21 passengers and four paramilitary personnel lost their lives.

Pakistan Army spokesperson Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif stated that the operation was successfully concluded, and the remaining passengers onboard were safely rescued.

The incident occurred when militants from the BLA hijacked the Jaffer Express train while it was traveling from Quetta in Balochistan province to Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The hijackers took 440 people hostage across nine carriages of the train.

Following the attack, the army launched an extensive operation, regaining control of the train. By Tuesday evening, security forces had rescued 100 passengers, and the remaining hostages were freed the following day.
