Kiran Abbavaram Extends Support to Aspiring Film Professionals
Chennai, March 12: Actor Kiran Abbavaram, who is preparing for the release of his upcoming action film Dilruba, has announced his decision to support 10 individuals from middle-class and lower-middle-class backgrounds who aspire to join the film industry but lack financial resources.
Speaking at a promotional event, Kiran recalled his own struggles. “When I first came to Krishna Nagar, I was with 40-50 people who shared the same passion for cinema. We used to meet, discuss films, and dream of making short films. But gradually, the number reduced. Over time, only a few remained, and today, hardly two or three are left. The biggest reason behind this is the lack of opportunities,” he said.
Acknowledging the hardships faced by aspiring filmmakers, he continued, “If someone from a middle-class family wants to move to Hyderabad for a job in software, their family and friends will encourage them. But if someone wants to come to Hyderabad for a film career, they won’t get any financial or emotional support because people do not have faith in cinema. Many have returned home, losing hope.”
Kiran expressed his gratitude for the love and support he has received in his journey. “I don’t know how successful I will be or for how long I will sustain in the industry, but I have always wanted to help others. Today, I am in a better position because of the audience’s support, and I want to give back. Every year, I will support 10 people who are passionate about cinema but lack financial resources. Whether it’s food, accommodation, or skill development, I will take care of them,” he promised.
He further added, “If by God's grace, I grow bigger, I will support 100 or even 1,000. But for now, I can help 10 people. This is my responsibility. I also urge filmmakers from rural areas not to return home without chasing their dreams. Stay strong and follow your passion.”
