Bank Holiday: February 26, 27.. On which day will banks be closed?

Bank Holiday in February

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) releases a list of bank holidays every month. In February, banks had holidays for almost half the month. As the month is coming to an end, Maha Shivaratri is approaching in several states, including Telugu states. Many are wondering whether the festival falls on February 26 or 27 and whether banks will remain closed on that day.

Which Day Will Banks Be Closed?

According to the RBI holiday list, Maha Shivaratri is officially marked on February 26. As a result, banks in several states, including Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Raipur, Ranchi, Thiruvananthapuram, and Shimla, will remain closed. However, some sources claim the festival falls on February 27, leading to confusion.

Banking Services During Holidays

Despite physical bank closures, essential banking services will remain unaffected. Digital transactions through UPI, IMPS, and net banking will continue as usual. Customers can withdraw cash from ATMs, and online fund transfers will function without disruption. While physical check deposits may experience delays, loan and EMI auto-debits will proceed as scheduled.
