Cancer Vaccine to Be Available Soon: Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav
Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, has announced that a vaccine to combat cancer affecting women is expected to be available within the next five to six months. He stated that only girls aged between 9 and 16 years would be eligible to receive the vaccine.
Research and Clinical Trials Near Completion
Speaking to the media, Jadhav mentioned that research on the vaccine is nearing completion, with clinical trials currently underway. He expressed concern over the rising number of cancer cases in the country and assured that the central government is taking necessary steps to address the issue.
Government's Focus on Early Detection
As part of early detection efforts, women above the age of 30 will undergo screening in hospitals. Additionally, the government plans to set up daycare cancer centers to improve diagnostic and treatment facilities.
Customs Duty Waived on Cancer Medicines
The minister further announced that customs duty on medicines used for cancer treatment has been waived. He emphasized that the upcoming vaccine is expected to help control breast, oral, and cervical cancers.
