"I turned down the offer to play Lord Shiva in Kannappa twice, says Akshay Kumar"
Mumbai, Feb 27: Actor Akshay Kumar, who will portray Lord Shiva in the upcoming pan-Indian film 'Kannappa', shared that he initially turned down the role twice. Akshay explained that it was Vishnu Manchu, the lead actor in the film, whose belief in his ability to play the role eventually convinced him to accept it.
Speaking at the launch event for the teaser of 'Kannappa', Akshay Kumar expressed his excitement about playing the iconic role of Lord Shiva. He said, “I wasn’t sure at first, and I turned down the offer twice. But Vishnu’s unwavering belief that I was the right person to bring Lord Shiva to life on screen really convinced me.”
The film, directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced by M. Mohan Babu, tells the story of a legendary warrior and devotee of Lord Shiva. The teaser, which has generated excitement, shows a glimpse of this epic tale of faith and sacrifice.
'Kannappa' is set to release in theatres worldwide on April 25, 2025, and the teaser will be available to the public on March 1, 2025.
