Case Filed in Anti-Piracy Crackdown Over Leaked Movie 'Chhaava'

A case has been filed by the South Cyber Police Station in Mumbai after a complaint about the leaked Hindi movie Chhaava. Rajat Rahul Haksar, the CEO of August Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., an anti-piracy agency working for Maddock Films Pvt. Ltd., reported that the movie was illegally shared on many digital platforms.

Chhaava, which released in theaters across India on February 14, 2025, has become the latest victim of online piracy. The movie was illegally distributed via 1,818 internet links, violating copyright laws and damaging its official release.

Piracy has been a growing concern in the entertainment industry, and the leak of Chhaava highlights the scale of the issue. The film was expected to perform well at the box office, but piracy has impacted its earnings.

The police are actively investigating the case to find and take action against those responsible for leaking the film. A formal case has been registered under CR No. 23/2025, covering multiple violations, including those under the Copyright Act, the Cinematograph Act, and the Information Technology Act.

The authorities are working to track down the individuals behind the illegal distribution of Chhaava and are taking steps to prevent future piracy. Further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
