Punjab Kings Beat CSK by 18 Runs in High-Scoring IPL Clash

New Chandigarh, April 8: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered another loss in IPL 2025 as Punjab Kings defeated them by 18 runs in Match 22 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium.

Punjab Kings scored a huge total of 219/6, thanks to a brilliant 103-run century by Priyansh Arya, his first in the IPL. He was well supported by Shashank Singh (52)* and *Marco Jansen (34)**.

In reply, CSK managed 201/5 in 20 overs. Devon Conway top-scored with 69, while Shivam Dube made 42 and Rachin Ravindra scored 36. But despite some late fireworks from MS Dhoni (27) and Jadeja, CSK couldn’t chase down the total.

Punjab's bowlers performed well under pressure. Lockie Ferguson took 2 wickets, and both Glenn Maxwell and Yash Thakur picked one each.

CSK started the chase strongly but lost momentum mid-innings. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad failed again, scoring only 1. The biggest moment for CSK fans came when Dhoni hit two sixes off Ferguson, and then a four and six off Arshdeep. But his dismissal in the final over crushed CSK’s hopes.

Earlier, after choosing to bat first, Arya hit the first ball of the match for six and continued to dominate, even getting lucky when a catch turned into a six after a fielding error. He hit three consecutive sixes off Pathirana to complete his hundred in style.

Despite early wickets by Ashwin (2-48) and Khaleel Ahmed (2-45), Punjab’s middle order powered them to a winning total. This is CSK’s fourth straight defeat in IPL 2025.
