Women's mob burns down house of main accused in Manipur's disrobing case

In a startling twist of events, a cohort of women from Manipur's Kangpokpi district took drastic action on May 4 by setting fire to the residence of the main suspect involved in the distressing incident where two women were forcibly disrobed and publicly humiliated. The Manipur police reported that Huirem Herodas Singh (Meitei) was one of the four individuals detained in connection with this appalling case.

Late on Thursday night, a group of women gathered in the village of Yairipok, located in the Thoubal district, and set Huirem Herodas Singh's (Meitei) home ablaze. Singh is believed to be the primary perpetrator responsible for the heinous act of stripping and parading the two women.

The Manipur police promptly responded to the shocking event that left the community in disbelief. Four individuals, including Huirem Herodas Singh (Meitei), were taken into custody on suspicion of their involvement in the reprehensible act of mistreating the two victims.
