The AP Legislative Assembly has successfully passed a bill aimed at repealing the Land Titling Act

In Vijayawada, the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Wednesday passed two significant bills. The first bill repeals the Andhra Pradesh Land Titling Act, 2022, a move Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu described as necessary due to the Act's flawed implementation by the previous YSRC government. Naidu criticized the Act for exacerbating land disputes and undermining civil court authority in resolving such disputes. He highlighted concerns about misuse of technology and politicization of land records, including the controversial inclusion of photos on pattadar passbooks under the YSRC regime.
Naidu affirmed that repealing the Land Titling Act was a priority for his administration, reflecting their commitment to address longstanding grievances related to land ownership and disputes. The repeal was swiftly enacted after being approved in the first Cabinet meeting and subsequently tabled in the Assembly session.
Additionally, the Assembly passed another bill to restore the name of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences to Dr YSR University of Health Sciences. This bill, presented by Health Minister Y. Satya Kumar, signifies a renaming in honor of the late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
These legislative actions underscore the government's efforts to address contentious issues and uphold public sentiment regarding land governance and educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh.
