TGSRTC Refutes Claims of Depot Privatization

HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has firmly rejected claims that its depots are being privatized. Addressing misinformation circulating on social media, the RTC stated that these claims are aimed at damaging its reputation.
TGSRTC clarified that it retains full control over all bus operations at its depots, including those involving electric buses. The corporation emphasized that there is no basis for concerns regarding privatization.
The RTC explained that each depot accommodates both electric and diesel buses, with all e-buses being managed in the same manner as diesel buses. Revenue from ticket sales for these buses is directly collected by the RTC. According to the agreement, payments to partnering companies are based on the distance traveled by the buses.
Under the Union government's Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME)-1 scheme, TGSRTC introduced 40 electric AC buses in March 2019. These buses operate on the Hyderabad Airport route under the Pushfaq brand, in partnership with Olectra Company. The buses are rotated from Cantonment and Miyapur-2 depots in Hyderabad. While the maintenance and charging of the buses are managed externally, all operational activities are conducted by TGSRTC.
