HYDERABAD: On Friday, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy issued a public clarification and expressed regret over remarks that had been misinterpreted by the media.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Chief Minister Reddy reaffirmed his "highest regard and full faith" in the Indian judiciary. He expressed concern that media coverage had distorted his comments, creating the false impression that he was challenging the Supreme Court's judicial wisdom.
This clarification follows a strong reaction from the Supreme Court to Reddy’s earlier remarks, which were perceived as questioning the court’s decision to grant bail to BRS leader K. Kavitha in the Delhi Liquor Scam case.
“I have the highest regard and full faith in the Indian Judiciary. I understand that certain press reports dated August 29, 2024, have given the impression that I am questioning the judicial wisdom of the Hon’ble Court. I reiterate that I am a firm believer in the judicial process and express my regret for any misunderstanding caused by these reports. The remarks attributed to me were taken out of context. I have unconditional respect and the highest regard for the Judiciary and its independence. As a staunch supporter of the Constitution of India and its principles, I continue to hold the Judiciary in the highest esteem,” the Chief Minister stated.
