The initial images of the Moon, acquired by Chandrayaan-3, India's third lunar expedition, have been revealed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Posting from the official Twitter account of the mission, a mesmerizing video was shared, showcasing the Moon as observed by the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft during its Lunar Orbit Insertion (LOI) on August 5, 2023.
On August 6, Chandrayaan-3 successfully executed its second Lunar-bound orbit adjustment, utilizing its onboard propulsion system to achieve an orbit measuring 170 km x 4313 km. The subsequent Lunar-bound orbit adjustment is scheduled for August 9.
Following this maneuver on Sunday, three more operations are on the agenda until August 17. Subsequent to these operations, the Landing Module Vikram, containing the rover Pragyan, will detach from the Propulsion Module. Following this, de-orbiting maneuvers will be initiated for the lander, culminating in the final powered descent onto the lunar surface.
