Intense competition for recruitment of DSC teachers in Telangana

Hyderabad boasts the highest number of applicants, totaling 27,027.

Hyderabad: The District Selection Committee (DSC) for teachers' recruitment in government and local body schools is facing fierce competition, with 25 candidates competing for each available job.

Registration closed on June 20, with a total of 2,79,966 candidates applying for the DSC, which has 11,062 vacancies. The highest number of applications, 76,371, was for the Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT) positions, followed by 42,094 for School Assistants (SA) in Social Studies. Additionally, 34,233 candidates applied for SA positions in Biological Science and 28,701 for SA positions in Mathematics, all under the Telugu medium category.

Among the 33 districts filling these vacancies, Hyderabad recorded the highest number of applicants at 27,027, while Medchal-Malkajgiri had the lowest with only 2,265 registrations.

The DSC notification encompassed 6,508 SGTs, 2,629 SAs, 727 Language Pandits, 182 Physical Education Teachers, and 1,016 Special Education Teachers, including 220 SA and 796 SGT posts from the previous notification by the BRS government. Following a fresh notification, the School Education department allowed new registrations and provided an editing option for previously registered candidates.

Additionally, 23,919 candidates who qualified in the Teacher Eligibility Test 2024 registered for the DSC without fees, taking advantage of the government's offer. Examinations are scheduled to commence from July 17, with a detailed timetable expected to be released shortly.
