HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that the upcoming fourth city in Maheshwaram, south of Hyderabad, will be India's first "Net Zero Carbon" city, representing a significant leap into the future.
Revanth Reddy emphasized that this new development, known as Future City, will serve as a hub for AI, medical tourism, sports, software, and pharmaceuticals. He described it as a new gold rush, with the government drafting a New Industrial Policy aimed at facilitating business startups and expansions in Telangana. "Telangana means business," he asserted.
Addressing an official roundtable hosted by the Consulate General of India in New York, Revanth Reddy spoke to over 20 CEOs and chairpersons from diverse sectors, including pharma, IT, technology, EV, GCC, biotech, and shipping. He highlighted Telangana’s strengths in software, life sciences, and pharma, noting the state’s significant contributions to global vaccine production during the Covid pandemic.
Revanth also praised Telangana's infrastructure and talent pool, promising top-notch policy support for investors. He drew a parallel between Hyderabad’s long history and that of the United States, noting that the city, established over 425 years ago, is nearly as old as the country itself.
IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu elaborated on Hyderabad’s current industrial strengths and the government’s policies designed to position Telangana as a viable manufacturing alternative to China and elevate Hyderabad to one of the world’s top ten cities.
The roundtable included notable attendees such as Ronald L. Verkleeren, Senior Vice President at Corning; Dinesh Paliwal, Partner at KKR; Ekram Sarpar, Head of International Public Policy at Cigna; and many other prominent figures from various industries.
