Tsunami Warning Issued
Following the earthquake, the US Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami alert, warning that hazardous tsunami waves could affect parts of the Pacific coastline. Additional alerts were released by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Weather Service.
Aftershock and Ongoing Monitoring
About 30 minutes later, a smaller aftershock with a preliminary magnitude of 5.3 was also reported in the same region.
As of now, there have been no confirmed reports of damage or injuries. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, and people living in coastal or affected areas are urged to remain alert and prepared for possible aftershocks or tsunami updates.
