NTR Bharosa Scheme: Spouse Pensions for Widows in Andhra Pradesh
Under the NTR Bharosa scheme, the Andhra Pradesh government is offering pensions to the wives of deceased beneficiaries. If the husband who was receiving the pension passes away, the wife will begin receiving the pension from the next month. This scheme, launched in November last year, will provide a monthly pension of ₹4,000 to eligible widows.
In addition, a new category has been introduced under the spouse pension scheme. A total of 89,788 individuals will be eligible for this benefit. As per the new instructions from the Rural Poverty Eradication Corporation (SERP), eligible women must submit the necessary documents, such as their husband's death certificate, Aadhaar card, and other details at the local gram or ward secretariats. Applications will be accepted starting this Friday.
To ensure timely benefits, those who submit their details by the 30th of this month will begin receiving their pensions on May 1st. For those who miss this deadline, payments will start from June 1st. This new decision will place an additional burden of ₹35.91 crores on the state government every month.
