Continuous heavy rains have been wreaking havoc in the two Telugu states, especially in Hyderabad, where nonstop rainfall has persisted since yesterday. The relentless downpour has resulted in severe disruption throughout the city.
The continuous rain has led to extensive traffic congestion, flooded roads, and overflowing waterways, making it extremely challenging for commuters to navigate their daily routines. Many roads are impassable due to flooding, leaving people stranded for hours, drenched and unable to move.
One particularly affected area is close to the Ikea shop in Hyderabad, where traffic has come to a standstill for almost a kilometer. Numerous low-lying regions have also been inundated with rainwater, adding to the woes of the locals. The city's mayor, G Vijayalakshmi, has urged GHMC authorities and staff members to take necessary precautions based on the weather department's warning of continuous rain over the past three days.
Prominent neighborhoods such as Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Ameerpet, Punjagutta, Borabanda, Kukatpally, Madhapur, Film Nagar, Lingampally, and Uppal have been severely affected by waterlogging, causing chaos and disruption in the city. In response to the hazardous weather conditions, schools and colleges have been instructed to remain closed today and tomorrow.
