Guntur: Bapatla District Officials Directed to Evacuate Flood-Prone Villages
In response to rising water levels from upstream catchment areas, Bapatla district officials have been instructed to evacuate residents from villages at risk of flooding.
On Sunday, District Joint Collector B. Subbarao held a meeting with officials and villagers, and inspected the rehabilitation center in Pesarlanka village, Kollur mandal. He announced that an alert has been issued due to potential inundation along the Krishna riverbank.
The villages at risk include Aravinda Varadhi, Pesarlanka, Chilumurulanka, Sugganalanka, Peddalanka, and Chintarlanka in Kollur mandal. Officials have been directed to stay vigilant and prepare for relief and rehabilitation efforts if needed. To facilitate evacuations, 56 boats and 100 skilled divers have been mobilized. The Joint Collector also instructed the establishment of medical camps to support the affected population.
