AP power authorities are striving to restore electricity amidst relentless rains with damages totaling Rs 193 lakh

Vijayawada: Amidst continuous rainfall across the state, power utilities have initiated efforts to restore electricity in flood-affected areas across all districts.
In a teleconference on Sunday, Special Chief Secretary (Energy) K Vijayanand, overseeing the assessment and restoration operations, highlighted that power utilities are working urgently to reconnect power in affected villages.
Officials reported damages to power infrastructure amounting to Rs 193.89 lakh. This includes impacts to sub-stations and a significant number of poles, lines, and services in various regions such as Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Kurnool, Kadapa, Vijayawada, and CRDA (Capital Region Development Authority).
"The Energy Department has mobilized resources and formed special teams to expedite restoration efforts," stated Vijayanand. He emphasized the commitment of power utility staff working around the clock and urged public cooperation during the restoration process. He advised residents to contact the toll-free number 1912 for assistance and to take precautions to prevent accidents during the rainy season.
CMD I Prudhvi Tej of APEPDCL confirmed swift actions to deploy equipment and materials to divisional offices to facilitate prompt restoration. He noted that major damages were concentrated in Rajahmundry and Eluru circles, with teams actively responding to consumer complaints.
Acknowledging the efforts of APTRANSCO & DISCOMs, the Special Chief Secretary urged officials to accelerate remaining restoration tasks.
