In Vijayawada, Minister for Social Welfare, Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, has committed to resolving issues in welfare hostels. He assured the timely release of arrears for Welfare Hostels and pledged to fill faculty vacancies.
During a series of public memorandums over three consecutive days, leaders of the Students Federation of India (SFI) and members of the Social Welfare Residential Employees Federation presented their concerns. They highlighted delayed salaries under the previous government, staff shortages leading to principals managing multiple schools, and various other issues affecting students and teachers in residential hostels.
Responding to these concerns, Swamy assured the federation members that vacancies would be promptly filled and committed to restoring the hostels to their former standards. The groups also requested adjustments to mess charges, provision of sanitary napkins for female students, and regular medical camps in the hostels.
In a positive response, the minister affirmed plans to release pending mess bills and prioritized addressing all raised issues.
