Andhra Special Officer Appointed to Investigate Mumbai Actress Case

VIJAYAWADA: On Thursday, NTR District Commissioner of Police SV Rajashekhar Babu appointed ACP K. Sravanthi Roy as a special officer to investigate the alleged harassment of Mumbai-based actress Kadambari Jethwani and her family by certain IPS officers.
This decision follows allegations made by Jethwani during a debate on a regional news channel, where she claimed that two IPS officers, formerly with the Vijayawada Police Commissionerate, harassed her and her family on the orders of YSRC leaders.
In February 2024, YSRC leader Kukkala Vidyasagar filed a complaint against Jethwani, accusing her of property fraud. Jethwani, who had previously been friends with Vidyasagar, alleged that he began to harass her with inappropriate photos and threats.
Jethwani contended that the Vijayawada police, acting on Vidyasagar's complaint, registered a baseless case against her and her family, leading to their unlawful arrest in Mumbai. She claimed that her family endured severe humiliation, and their personal belongings, including phones and electronic devices, were seized.
In response to these claims, DGP Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao directed the NTR District CP to accept Jethwani’s online complaint and register a case against those who allegedly abused their power.
Rajashekhar Babu tasked ACP K. Sravanthi Roy with investigating the case from Ibrahimpatnam police station and requested a prompt report. The CP emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind the allegations.
Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha confirmed that Jethwani's complaint was filed online and assured that any errant officers would face appropriate action. She also announced that Disha police stations would be renamed as women police stations while retaining their functions.
