New Delhi: Indian Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi asserted on Monday that the army is fully prepared to tackle current and future security challenges confronting India. Gen Dwivedi, who recently assumed command of the 1.3 million-strong force, highlighted the importance of fostering synergy among the Army, Air Force, and Navy as one of his top priorities.
Speaking to the media after inspecting a guard of honour at South Block in the Raisina hills, the newly-appointed Army Chief also emphasized his commitment to promoting the integration of domestically-produced military equipment into the armed forces, aiming to enhance India's self-reliance in defense.

I aim to enhance synergy among the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force to safeguard national interests, he stated.
I am committed to ensuring that through enhanced synergy among the Army, Navy, Air Force, and other stakeholders, we remain fully prepared for operations across the entire spectrum of conflict, he emphasized.
I assure the nation and its citizens that the Indian Army is well-prepared and capable of addressing both current and future challenges, he affirmed.
These statements were made against the backdrop of the ongoing border tensions with China in eastern Ladakh.

Gen Dwivedi held the position of Vice Chief of the Army starting from February 19.
Prior to his role as Vice Chief, he served as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Northern Command from 2022 to 2024.
