Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad, Hyderabad has set a new record in passenger traffic. During the financial year 2024–25, the airport recorded a 15.20% growth, with 21.3 million passengers traveling through it. This marks a major achievement, pushing it ahead of Chennai and Kolkata airports.
Between January and March 2025 alone, 7.4 million passengers used the airport, which is much higher than the usual 2 million per month. This increase was seen in both domestic and international travel, showing strong passenger demand.
International routes from Hyderabad also saw great numbers. Every month, around 93,000 passengers flew to Dubai, 42,000 to Doha, 38,000 to Abu Dhabi, 31,000 to Jeddah, and 31,000 to Singapore. Officials believe that if this trend continues, the airport might reach 30 million passengers in the next financial year.
