Visakhapatnam Steel Plant to Be Strengthened – CM Chandrababu’s Key Meeting with Central Team
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has assured that the state government is fully prepared to provide the necessary support for the progress of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. In a crucial meeting, it was decided that both the central and state governments will work in coordination to restore the plant to its former glory.
During the discussions, CM Chandrababu made significant suggestions for strengthening the steel plant and assured full cooperation. The slogan “Visakha Ukku… Andhrula Hakku” (Visakhapatnam Steel is Andhra’s Right) was emphasized, and the coalition government is now accelerating its plans for the plant’s development.
Union Minister of State for Steel, Srinivas Varma, along with a delegation of senior officials, met CM Chandrababu in Amaravati. The Chief Minister warmly welcomed the central team and held key discussions regarding the plant’s progress. He highlighted the deep emotional and economic connection Andhra Pradesh has with Visakhapatnam Steel and stressed the need to protect and revitalize it.
The meeting primarily focused on the revival fund utilization and an action plan for further strengthening the steel plant. The issue of plant security was also discussed, with the state government agreeing to replace CISF security with State Special Protection Force (SPF) for plant security.
CM Chandrababu also suggested cost-cutting measures for the plant’s operations. He emphasized that reducing operational costs while increasing efficiency would yield better results. Discussions were held on regular progress reviews, operational improvements, and the reopening of the third blast furnace along with the existing two.
CM Chandrababu’s commitment to providing all necessary support for the steel plant’s growth was appreciated by the Ministry of Steel officials. The meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s residence, was attended by Union Minister of State for Steel Srinivas Varma, Steel Secretary Sandeep Poundrik, Joint Secretary Abhijit Narendra, and other senior officials.
