Hyderabad, April 28: The Revanth government in Telangana is set to announce good news for the state's unemployed youth. Plans are underway for large-scale police recruitment in the state soon. It is estimated that nearly 12,000 vacancies exist in the police department. Once the orders are received from the state government, board officials are ready to send the proposals immediately. Although the police department has been conducting large-scale recruitment in recent years, these appointments have mainly been to fill vacancies created due to retirements.

In 2007, after the bomb blasts at Lumbini Park and Gokul Chat, the state government had decided to strengthen the police department and aimed to fill 35,000 posts at once. However, it was impossible to fill so many posts at once, so the recruitment process was carried out in phases.

Though some recruitments have been completed in various phases, others have been delayed for various reasons. The last police recruitment in Telangana was completed in 2022. In that year's notification, the Telangana State Police Recruitment Board filled a total of 17,000 posts. Those selected and trained during the 2022 recruitment process were handed their appointment letters by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in 2024. This year, officials are preparing for another large-scale police recruitment drive.

According to preliminary information, there are nearly 12,000 vacancies in the state for posts like Constables and Sub-Inspectors. These numbers could increase further. In April 2021, the state government issued orders increasing the retirement age of government employees from 58 to 61. As a result, those due to retire in 2024 had their tenure extended until March 2024. Retirements will resume in April 2024, and the government plans to fill these vacancies immediately. The Telangana State Police Recruitment Board is also prepared to begin recruitment as soon as these vacancies arise.
