HYDERABAD:IT & Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu introduced the Young India Skills University (Public-Private Partnership) Bill, 2024, in the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Tuesday. The proposed university aims to provide industry-oriented skills through three-year degree and diploma programs across various fields.
The university will be governed by a board of directors led by a chairperson and include government officials, sponsors, and industry experts. It will be located at Mucherla, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, and will operate under a ‘hub-and-spoke’ model, with the university serving as the hub and district skill centers as the spokes.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy recently proposed an investment ranging from Rs 50 crore to Rs 100 crore for the establishment of the university. This initiative aligns with the state government’s goal of creating employment opportunities for the youth. Additionally, plans are underway to upgrade ITIs into advanced knowledge centers.
The Assembly is expected to discuss the proposed bill on Wednesday.
