In a village there lived a Brahmin couple named Bhaskara Sharma and Kamalamma. They used to do dhana and dharma. They are very kind. They were childless for some time. They used to do many pujas, noms and vratas for the children. As a result of their worship, a fruitful child was born. They used to care for that child with a lot of love and caress. One day while Bhaskara Sharma was going to the next village, he saw a mongoose on the way. Brahmin saw it and stood there. Mongoose came to him. Go home holding the Mongoose and show it to the wife and it will accompany our child. "Let's grow this," he said. "Yes, yes, we will protect our child" , they thought. Since that day, along with the child, the Mongoose is also being raised very lovingly. One day Bhaskara Sharma said, "I am going out to do pooja, be careful child." After some time, Kamalamma did housework and cooking.

 Gave food to mongoose. She gave milk to the baby and put him to bed. Going to the well to draw good water, Kamalamma went out with a bucket and told the mongoose to take care of the child until I came. Mungeesa nodded her head saying ok. Mongoose is watching over the baby lying in the cradle. After a while, the black snake noticed that the baby was in the cradle and jumped up and caught the snake and bit it. Mongoose's muzzle has that blood. With the joy of saving the child, sitting opposite the house, the child is happy to tell the parents that the child has been saved from the snake.

 Boruna lamented that Kamalamma, who had just arrived, saw the blood on Mungisa's muzzle and the time when there was no one at home and killed my child. She threw a drop of water on Mungeesa in anger that she had done so much for believing. Due to that blow, the mongoose was beaten and died. When he went inside crying, the baby was playing safely in the cradle and was frolicking. A large black snake died nearby. Seeing that, the couple lamented, thinking that we had killed the mongoose that saved our child's life with our own hands.

Moral: A decision taken in a fit of anger leads to mischief.

ఒక ఊరిలో భాస్కర శర్మ, కమలమ్మ అనే బ్రాహ్మణ దంపతులు ఉండేవారు. ధనము, ధర్మము చేసేవారు. వారు చాలా దయగలవారు. కొంత కాలంగా వారికి సంతానం లేదు. పిల్లలకు ఎన్నో పూజలు, నోములు, వ్రతాలు చేసేవారు. వారి పూజల ఫలితంగా పండంటి బిడ్డ పుట్టాడు. ఆ బిడ్డను ఎంతో ప్రేమగా, ఆప్యాయంగా చూసుకునేవారు. ఒకరోజు భాస్కరశర్మ పక్క ఊరికి వెళ్తుండగా దారిలో ఒక ముంగిస కనిపించింది. అది చూసి బ్రాహ్మణుడు నిలబడ్డాడు. ముంగిస అతని వద్దకు వచ్చింది. ముంగిసను పట్టుకొని ఇంటికి వెళ్లి భార్యకు చూపించి, అది మా బిడ్డకు తోడుగా వస్తుంది. "దీన్ని పెంచుదాం" అన్నాడు. "అవును, మా బిడ్డను కాపాడుకుంటాం" అనుకున్నారు. ఆ రోజు నుంచి బిడ్డతో పాటు ముంగిసను కూడా ఎంతో ప్రేమగా పెంచుతున్నారు. 

ఒకరోజు భాస్కర శర్మ "నేను పూజ చేయడానికి బయటకి వెళ్తున్నాను, జాగ్రత్త పిల్లా" అన్నాడు. కొంత కాలం తర్వాత కమలమ్మ ఇంటిపని, వంటపని చేసింది. ముంగిసకు ఆహారం ఇచ్చాడు. పాపకు పాలు ఇచ్చి పడుకోబెట్టింది. మంచినీళ్లు తీయడానికి బావి దగ్గరకు వెళ్లిన కమలమ్మ బకెట్‌తో బయటకు వెళ్లి నేను వచ్చే వరకు పిల్లవాడిని చూసుకో అని ముంగిసకు చెప్పింది. ముంగీసా సరే అని తల ఊపింది. ముంగిస ఊయలలో పడుకున్న పాపను చూస్తోంది.

 కొద్దిసేపటి తర్వాత ఊయలలో శిశువు ఉండటాన్ని గమనించిన నల్లపాము దూకి పామును పట్టుకుని కాటేసింది. ముంగిస మూతిలో ఆ రక్తం ఉంటుంది. చిన్నారిని రక్షించిన ఆనందంతో ఇంటి ఎదురుగా కూర్చొని చిన్నారి పాము బారి నుంచి బయటపడిన విషయాన్ని తల్లిదండ్రులకు చెబుతూ ఆనందం వ్యక్తం చేసింది. అప్పుడే వచ్చిన కమలమ్మ ముంగిస మూతిపై రక్తాన్ని చూసి ఇంట్లో ఎవరూ లేని సమయంలో నా బిడ్డను చంపేసిందని బోరున విలపించింది. నమ్మించి ఇంత చేశానన్న కోపంతో ముంగీసపై నీటి చుక్క విసిరింది. ఆ దెబ్బకి ఆ ముంగిస కొట్టుకుని చనిపోయింది. ఏడుస్తూ లోపలికి వెళ్లేసరికి పాప ఊయలలో భద్రంగా ఆడుకుంటూ ఉల్లాసంగా ఉంది. సమీపంలో ఒక పెద్ద నల్ల పాము చనిపోయింది. అది చూసి మన బిడ్డ ప్రాణాలను కాపాడిన ముంగిసను మన చేతులతో చంపేశామంటూ దంపతులు బోరున విలపించారు.
