At the time of Ashadam.. in this month when Ammavaru emerges as Shakambari Devi, Goddesses who are measured in Devi temples are decorated as Shakambari Devi. Festivals are held for three days. Against this backdrop, the Sakambari celebrations have begun in earnest today at the Kanaka Durgamma temple, which is atop the Indrakiladri in Vijayawada, a famous shrine in Andhra Pradesh.

The fourth month of Telugu months is Ashada month.. In this month, pujas, fairs and festivals are held. Jagajjanani gave life to various branches like nuts, vegetables, fruits and grass to satisfy the hunger of the people during Ashadam.. In this month when Ammavaru emerged as Sakambari Devi, goddesses who are measured in Devi temples are decorated as Sakambari Devi. Festivals are held for three days. Against this backdrop, the Sakambari celebrations have begun in earnest today at the Kanaka Durgamma temple, which is atop the Indrakiladri in Vijayawada, a famous shrine in Andhra Pradesh.
These festivities will be held from today till the third day. Ammavari temple is beautifully decorated with various greens, fruits and vegetables.

As part of the Sakambari festival, the festival started with Vigneshwara Puja on the first day. The priests will perform the Rutvik Varuna, Punyavachanam, Akhanda Deeparadhana, Vastu Homam and Kalash installation. Kanakadurgamma will give darshan to the devotees as Goddess Sankabari for three days. A large number of devotees from Telugu states reached Indrakiladri to pay their respects to the Goddess. The queues were crowded with devotees.

It is the belief of the devotees that by worshiping the goddess in Ashadam as Shakambari, natural calamities will be removed and abundant rains will fall. Sakam means vegetables. At this time Goddess is called Shakambari Devi as Goddess is worshiped by decorating it with various vegetables.

ఆషాడం సమయంలోనే.. అమ్మవారు శాకంబరీదేవిగా ఆవిర్భవించిన ఈ నెలలో దేవీ ఆలయాల్లో కొలువైన అమ్మవారిని శాకాంబరీదేవిగా అలంకరిస్తారు. మూడు రోజుల పాటు ఉత్సవాలు చేస్తారు. ఈ నేపథ్యంలో ఈ రోజు ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ లోని ప్రముఖ పుణ్యక్షేత్రం విజయవాడలో ఇంద్రకీలాద్రిపై కొలువైన కనక దుర్గమ్మ ఆలయంలో శాకంబరీ ఉత్సవాలు ఘనంగా ప్రారంభమయ్యాయి. 

తెలుగు నెలల్లో నాలుగో మాసం ఆషాడ మాసం.. ఈ నెలలో పూజలు, అమ్మవారి జాతరలు, ఉత్సవాలు జరుగుతాయి. జగజ్జనని తన శరీర భాగాలను గింజలు, కూరగాయలు, పండ్లు, గడ్డి ఇలా రకరకాల శాఖలకు జీవాన్ని ఇచ్చి ప్రజల ఆకలి తీర్చింది ఆషాడం సమయంలోనే.. అమ్మవారు శాకంబరీదేవిగా ఆవిర్భవించిన ఈ నెలలో దేవీ ఆలయాల్లో కొలువైన అమ్మవారిని శాకాంబరీదేవిగా అలంకరిస్తారు. మూడు రోజుల పాటు ఉత్సవాలు చేస్తారు. ఈ నేపథ్యంలో ఈ రోజు ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ లోని ప్రముఖ పుణ్యక్షేత్రం విజయవాడలో ఇంద్రకీలాద్రిపై కొలువైన కనక దుర్గమ్మ ఆలయంలో శాకంబరీ ఉత్సవాలు ఘనంగా ప్రారంభమయ్యాయి.

ఈరోజు నుంచి మూడో తారీకు వరకు ఈ ఉత్సవాలు జరగనున్నాయి. అమ్మవారి ఆలయాన్ని వివిధ ఆకుకూరలు, పండ్లు, కూరగాయలతో అందంగా అలంకరించారు.

శాకంబరీ ఉత్సవాల్లో భాగంగా తొలిరోజు విఘ్నేశ్వర పూజతో ఉత్సవాలను ప్రారంభించారు. రుత్విక్‌ వరుణ, పుణ్యవచనం, అఖండ దీపారాధన, వాస్తు హోమం, కలశ స్థాపన పూజలను అర్చకులు నిర్వహించనున్నారు. మూడు రోజులపాటు శాంకబరీ దేవిగా  భక్తులకు కనకదుర్గమ్మ దర్శనం ఇవ్వనున్నది. అమ్మవారిని దర్శించుకుని తమ మొక్కులు తీర్చుకునేందుకు తెలుగు రాష్ట్రాల నుంచి భారీగా భక్తులు ఇంద్రకీలాద్రికి చేరుకున్నారు. క్యూలైన్లు భక్తుల రద్దీతో నిండిపోయాయి.

ఆషాడంలో అమ్మవారిని శాకంబరీగా అలంకరించి పూజించడం వల్ల ప్రకృతి వైపరీత్యాలు తొలిగిపోయి సమృద్ధిగా వర్షాలు కురుస్తాయని భక్తుల విశ్వాసం. శాకం అంటే కూరగాయలు. వివిధ కూరగాయలతో అలంకరించి అమ్మవారిని పూజిస్తారు కనుక ఈ సమయంలో అమ్మవారిని శాకంబరీ దేవి అని పిలుస్తారు.
