Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni has admitted that his team is struggling to score enough runs in IPL 2025. After their fourth home defeat and a five-wicket loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad, CSK’s chances of qualifying for the playoffs look very slim. Dhoni pointed out that too many players are out of form, which is making it hard to stick with a fixed team lineup.
In their latest match, CSK scored just 154 runs, with only Ayush Mhatre, Dewald Brevis, and Deepak Hooda showing some fight. Although they tried to defend the total and came back into the game briefly, it wasn’t enough. Dhoni said in the post-match interview that teams need to score more today, and the game has changed. He added that it’s not always about scoring 180–200, but teams must assess the conditions and aim higher.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, who were also struggling, got their first-ever win at Chepauk and kept their playoff hopes alive. Nitish Kumar Reddy played a key role with an unbeaten 49-run partnership with Kamindu Mendis. He said the team is inspired by RCB’s winning streak last year and hopes SRH can also win seven games in a row to qualify.
