AMARAVATI: The India Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across parts of Andhra Pradesh from August 19 to 23.
The department predicts heavy rains for Monday and Tuesday in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, and Rayalaseema. Thunderstorms with lightning are expected in NCAP and Yanam throughout the week.
Isolated areas in the state may experience strong surface winds reaching speeds of up to 40 km per hour on all five days.
According to the Met Department, the cyclonic circulation that was previously over north interior Karnataka has now shifted to Rayalaseema and its surrounding areas, extending up to 0.9 km above sea level. Additionally, a trough extends from this cyclonic circulation to the Comorin area across Tamil Nadu, also extending up to 0.9 km above sea level.
