Any Indian citizen wishing to travel abroad must have a valid passport. According to the Passport Act, 1967, the Government of India issues different types of passports. In this, ordinary passport, diplomatic passport, official passport, emergency certificate, identity certificate are issued under valid documents. A passport application will be rejected if the requested documents are not provided or if there is any error in it. So find out what documents need to be given to get a passport. Date of Birth Certificate, Photo Identity Card will have to be submitted. Then Passport Seva Kendra officer will verify it with proof of address and other proofs. Then the Nationality Certificate .. which is verified by the Passport Seva Kendra Officer from the supporting documents. You need to book an appointment to visit a Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or a Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK). Online payment is mandatory for this.

Where to Apply

To get passport you have to apply at Passport Seva Kendra, Post Office Seva Kendra. Both these offices look after the passport office. Tokens can be taken for making passports at both these centers. A token, receipt is given for issuing a new passport or re-issuing a passport. Based on this you will get a passport. While these two offices function as front end offices, the work related to the bank end is handled by the passport office. The passport office itself handles passport printing, lamination, passport dispatch, liaison with the Ministry of External Affairs, state or union territory administrators, and the police.
