New Delhi, October 25: Zomato, the online food delivery platform, unveiled an all-encompassing maternity insurance program for its female delivery partners. This insurance package will encompass expenses associated with pregnancy, including childbirth and any maternity-related complications, thereby offering peace of mind and financial protection to these female delivery partners and their families, as per the company's announcement.

Rakesh Ranjan, CEO of Food Delivery at Zomato, stated, "By introducing a comprehensive maternity insurance plan for gig workers, we aim to provide additional support during our partners' journey to motherhood. This underlines our commitment to their well-being and financial security, ensuring we meet their needs at every stage."

Zomato has collaborated with the digital insurance provider ACKO to provide maternity insurance coverage. According to the company, the insurance applies to female delivery partners who have completed 1000 deliveries on the Zomato platform and have been active for the last 60 days as of the notification date for the maternity insurance plan.

The comprehensive coverage includes both normal and cesarean deliveries for up to two children, in addition to maternity complications such as miscarriage and abortion. Under this insurance plan, up to Rs 25,000 is allocated for a normal delivery, up to Rs 40,000 for cesarean sections, and up to Rs 40,000 in cases of maternity-related complications such as miscarriage and abortion.
