The rivalry to establish the rightful heir to YS Rajasekhar Reddy's legacy persists between YS Jagan, traditionally seen as the heir, and Sharmila, who actively seeks to carve her own path within the YSR vote base. This contention was prominently displayed when Sharmila recently organized a grand event in Mangalagiri to honor YSR Jayanthi on July 8th.
Sharmila has now directly challenged Jagan with three pointed questions, seemingly questioning his commitment to YSR's memory.
Firstly, she queried why Jagan couldn't spare even a few moments to sit at YSR's Samadhi in Idupulapaya, hastily departing in under five minutes.
Secondly, in her role as AP Congress president, she linked Jagan's Siddham meetings to YSR Jayanthi, questioning, "You spent crores of rupees on Siddham meetings, but couldn't allocate funds for YSR's commemorative services? Are you so self-absorbed that you neglect YSR's legacy?"
Lastly, Sharmila challenged Jagan on whether he truly believes YSR merits special recognition on his 75th Jayanthi, highlighting his failure to allocate resources for this occasion.
Sharmila's dissatisfaction with Jagan's handling of YSR's legacy is evident. By posing these questions on YSR Jayanthi, she aims to stake her claim to the 'YSR Varasulu' mantle, underscoring what some perceive as Jagan's lack of robust efforts in preserving and promoting YSR's legacy.
