YS Sharmila asserts her claim to YSR's legacy

After fiercely contesting against her own brother, YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, in the recent Andhra Pradesh assembly elections, PCC chief YS Sharmila is now focused on establishing herself as the true successor to her father, the former Congress stalwart YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who served as CM from 2004 to 2009.
Since entering the Andhra Pradesh political arena, Sharmila has consistently positioned herself as the rightful heir to YSR’s legacy. Her latest endeavor involves orchestrating a grand event at CK Convention Hall in Mangalagiri on July 8th, on the eve of YSR’s birth anniversary. Reports suggest Sharmila is sparing no effort to ensure the event's success, aiming to attract top Congress leaders and garner support from YSR's loyalists.
Sharmila intends to extend invitations to prominent figures such as Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, as well as other influential Congress leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge, Siddaramaiah, Revanth Reddy, Digvijay Singh, Jairam Ramesh, Veerappa Moily, and Sushil Kumar Shinde. Additionally, she plans to personally invite TDP president and AP CM N. Chandrababu Naidu and Janasena chief and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan.
Her efforts underscore her determination to assert her claim to YSR’s legacy and counter her brother Jagan’s political ambitions in the state. Sharmila aims to showcase the birth anniversary of her father in a spectacular manner, ensuring it receives national attention.
Meanwhile, former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy is expected to mark the occasion privately at the Idupulapaya estate, where he will pay homage at his father's memorial. The differing approaches of Jagan and Sharmila to commemorating their father’s birth anniversary highlight their contrasting political strategies and aspirations.
