Waheeda Rehman, Alia Bhatt, and Allu Arjun in Prominent Roles at the 69th National Film Awards

New Delhi, October 17: The 69th National Film Awards held in the capital on Tuesday showcased a blend of generations and diverse fashion styles as President Droupadi Murmu honored prominent actors, ranging from Waheeda Rehman to Alia Bhatt.

Rehman was bestowed with the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award for her remarkable contributions to Indian cinema. Elegantly dressed in a cream and golden-colored saree, complemented by a green necklace and matching earrings, she adorned her hair in a bun.

The President conveyed her congratulations to Rehman, acknowledging her elevated status within the industry due to her artistic prowess and persona.

Discussing the significance of the Awards, the President remarked, "The award ceremony paints a picture of the diversity of India and the unity inherent in it. The talented individuals present at the ceremony have given meaningful expressions to languages, regional characteristics, social beliefs, achievements, and problems."

The President expressed confidence that in a country abundant in talent, those connected with the world of cinema will continue setting new standards of excellence, with films playing a pivotal role in shaping a developed India.

The National Award for Best Hindi Film was conferred upon the biographical historical drama film 'Sardar Udham' (2021). The film's director, Shoojit Sircar, accepted the award. The movie features Vicky Kaushal in the lead role.

'Sardar Udham' also received awards for Best Cinematography (Avik Mukhopadhayay), Best Production Design, Best Costume Designer, and Best Audiography.

Alia was honored with the Best Actress award for her exceptional performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi'. Adorned in her wedding saree, she attended the ceremony with her husband and actor, Ranbir Kapoor, who was engrossed in capturing her moments.

Kriti Sanon was also a recipient of the Best Actress award for her role in 'Mimi'. She looked stunning in a cream and multi-hued saree with a golden border. Her hair was elegantly tied in a bun, complementing a neutral makeup look.

Tollywood star Allu Arjun was honored as the Best Actor for 'Pushpa: The Rise', dressed in traditional white attire. The movie also clinched the award for Best Music Direction, credited to Devi Sri Prasad.

R. Madhavan's directorial debut 'Rocketry: The Nambi Effect' received the award for Best Feature Film.

S.S. Rajamouli's blockbuster 'RRR' was recognized as the 'Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment'. The movie also received the award for 'Best Music Direction', presented to M.M. Keeravaani.

The epic action drama film 'RRR' further secured awards for Best Special Effects, Best Choreography, and Best Action Direction Award (Stunt Choreography).

The award for Best Editing was presented to renowned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the movie 'Gangubai Kathiawadi'. The film also won accolades for Best Screenplay and Best Make-up Artist.

Shreya Ghoshal was awarded the Best Female Playback Singer for the song 'Maayava Chaayavaa' from the Tamil movie 'Iravin Nizhal'. Kaala Bhairava received the award for the Best Male Playback Singer for the song 'Komuram Bheemudo' from the Telugu version of the movie 'RRR'.

The Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration was granted to 'The Kashmir Files', directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri. Pallavi Joshi secured the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in 'The Kashmir Files', and Pankaj Tripathi was recognized as the Best Supporting Actor for 'Mimi'.

The award for Best Child Artist was bestowed upon Bhavin Rabari for his performance in the Gujarati film, 'Chello Show'.

The Special Jury Award was presented to the movie 'Shershaah', starring Sidharth Malhotra, with Director Vishnu Varadhan accepting the honor."
